Bankole Ositadimma Awuzie is a Professor of Smart and Sustainable Built Environments in the Construction Management and Quantity Surveying Department at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.  Also, Bankole is an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Africa (UNISA) School of Business Leadership. He holds a PhD in Built Environment from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom. Bankole’ s research interests focus on the facilitation of sustainable, smart, and circular built environments. This thematic area spans any or a combination of the following knowledge domains; Housing, Sustainable Construction Project Management, Construction 4.0/5.0, Health and Safety in Construction, Construction Productivity, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Circular Economy, Built Environment Education for Sustainable Development, Strategy Implementation, Facilities and Property Management and Infrastructure Delivery Systems. Besides participating in various research projects as principal and co-investigator respectively, Bankole has published several peer-reviewed articles, conference papers and books around this thematic area and supervised several postgraduate students to successful completion. One of these books, Infrastructure Delivery Systems: Governance and Implementation Issues was published by Springer in 2019 and focuses on the challenges negating successful governance or infrastructure projects in Africa. Another book focused on continuous cost improvement in the global construction industry. He holds a South African National Research Foundation (NRF) Y2 rating award. Furthermore, he is the co-editor-in-chief of the Applications of Circular Economy (ACE) Journal and Associate Editor with the Built Environment Project and Asset Management (BEPAM) journal and the Journal of Construction Project Management and Innovation (JCPMI) respectively. He sits on the editorial board of reputable journals like Sustainable Development, PLOS One, and Springer’s Strategies for Sustainability book series.
