Soraya El-Deir is Professor of Environmental Management at the Environmental Engineering Graduate Program at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, and is a researcher in solid waste management in private and public corporate environments. Her research interests are focused on Education for Sustainability and Environmental Management in corporations, as well as Bioindicators of Environmental Quality. Most articles by Prof. El-Deir are about models and indicators in solid waste management, environmental impact identification processes, and corporate management and planning.
The most recent activities of Prof. Soraya include the management and structuring of the socio-environmental planning of the Ecos Committee of Pernambuco, which includes the Regional Electoral Courts, Accounts of the State of Pernambuco, Regional Labor, Justice, Federal, and the Federal Attorney General and Federal and State Attorneys based in Pernambuco. She is also at the forefront of research with models of dry solid waste management in malls, as well as directs works focused on the development of management models and the strengthening of associations of recyclable waste pickers in these processes.
The Prof. El-Deir is the lead researcher of the Environmental Management Research Group in Pernambuco (Gampe), with 20 national and international awards, among them the Dryland Champions of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) of the United Nations United Nations - UN. Has 23 articles in periodicals; 21 books as author or organizer, plus 37 book chapters. She is the organizer of the Brazilian Congress of Solid Waste - EPERSOL, which brings together more than 1200 articles in the 6 years of the event.
